One Atari 8-bit book that it seems like nearly everyone had was Mapping the Atari by Ian Chadwick. I had this book back in the 80s and now have a couple copies, each picked up in different Atari 8-bit lots, one a few years ago and one a couple weeks ago.

Compute! published many books for the Atari 8-bit computers and I’ve written about their first two already:

The other Compute! book I own is Compute!’s First Book of Atari Graphics. I don’t have Compute!’s Third Book of Atari, the Second Book of Atari Graphics or Compute!’s Atari Collection Volume 1.

My two copies of Mapping the Atari.

But for this article, let’s dig into Mapping the Atari.
