I just received 56 pounds of Atari ST stuff. My wife is not pleased, but I am thrilled.
This giant package (technically it was two packages, one large one and one small one) contained tons of magazines, probably my favorite thing collect, which is why it was so heavy.
But it also had lots of software, some in the original boxes and at least one that was still shrink-wrapped.
There were also hundreds of 3.5” floppies which seem to mostly be filled with what would have been pirated software back in the day. There are lots of games and applications, plus a fair amount of PD stuff.
One especially cool thing is a binder containing a bunch of NCAUG newsletters. It’s going to be fun reading through all that (and writing about it) this winter!
This was somewhat of a gamble and a bit of a grab bag purchase as I really had no idea exactly what was included in the box. Unfortunately I already had a fair amount of the magazines that this came with, but at least the ones here are in better condition than many of the ones I already have, so I can update my collections that way.
Some of the magazine included: Compute!, Compute!’s Atari ST Disk & Magazine, RESET, ST-XPress, ST Application, ST Action, ST User, Atari Explorer, STart, Antic, ST Log, ST Format. There were even a couple issues of Heavy Metal (a sci/fi & comic magazine), which I only remember from that 1981 animated movie.
More unusual was a disk magazine that I’d never heard of called FaSTer, still sealed!
There were also a couple desktop organizer drawers, which I really didn’t need and could have been eliminated to reduce the weight. But at least they were full of floppy labels and things, which always come in handy!
I wish there was a PDF scan archive of those Atari ST magazines. I can't find any archive for the lesser known ST publications like ST X-Press, ST User and ST Applications.
ST Publishing Partner later changed its name - can't remember to what - but kept same color scheme and font for its packaging. Used it to lay out the SDACE newsletter each month for several years.
