I’ve mentioned my Atari calculator I picked up last year. It is solar but didn’t work without some pretty bright light, so I replaced the button cell battery and now it is much more useful. I use it almost every day.

Back in the mid 80s, Atari was sticking their hands in lots of pies. Not only were they selling the XE 8-bit computers and the new ST computers, but they also dipped their toes in calculators for a while. Perhaps Jack Tramiel was nostalgic for when Commodore sold calculators in its early days…

I still find it amazing that Atari made calculators back in the 80s. It doesn’t make much sense, but this was back when they seemed to be sticking their toes in everything.

I’ve also been fascinated by calculators, so here is a bit more about other calculators I used over the years.
