Speaking as a reader I absolutely love this idea. I really enjoyed Sung’s recent article and I hope we get more. I realize this isn’t where you’re going, but I would love to see just a retro computer Substack that covered all the different platforms, old video games, and things like that. But focus on telling personal stories about what computer meant to you back then or some experience you had with them.
Origin stories are the best superhero movies, and origin computing stories are the best personal tech essays! :) Because I know so little about the other computers of the C64 era, I'd love to get real takes from real people, so here's to hoping we'll see many more.

I did quite a bit of tinkering in 68000 assembler back in the early 1990s, and still have a lot of the source code stashed away which I can include.
