My collection of unusual BASICs for the Atari ST continues and this time I’m looking at Fast BASIC. To be honest, this one is not as usual as REAL BASIC or DBASIC, but I had never used it before.

I remember reading about Fast BASIC in 1987 as it was one of the first alternative BASICs released for the Atari ST. It also was available as a cartridge, which was unusual at the time (and still is, actually).

Fast BASIC was created by Computer Concepts and was distributed in the US by Eidersoft.

Note that this Fast BASIC has nothing to do with FastBASIC for the Atari 8-bit.

I have a disk-based version of Fast BASIC running on my Mega STE.

The About Menu for Atari ST Fast BASIC. It says “Fast Basic” here, but is referred to as “Fast BASIC” in the manual.
