My Dad, who built a home rewarding Kim I, and got Atari 400, 800 and ST for us, passed 8n November. I'm exhibiting this weekend in his honor at VCF So Cal.
Thank you for sharing this Paul. I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad. My Mum passed away soon after you started Goto10 after having been diagnosed with dementia a few years earlier. If it’s any comfort, her dementia was very stable and actually got better from time to time. I’m sure that you talking about your shared retro computing memories is helping your dad a lot. My Mum’s passing has also been a reminder to me to write things about our family for my son. We forget sometimes how fragile these memories are. Very best wishes.
Thanks for sharing this your motivation Paul. As a dad, I really appreciate this creative way that you have found to connect with your dad through his dementia. I am very glad you two can still connect through the shared joy of classic 8-bit computers.
That's a lovely tribute to your dad. He obviously made a really positive influence on you growing up, and looking at that old photo I can see how happy he was too!
Oh boy, great pic, he seems so young, sometimes we forget how time passes by so quickly. I can imagine how hard it's a situation like that, but enjoy all minutes with him, keep reading, and thanks him to inspire you so much, even if his body can't remember things sometimes, believe me it's all there.
That's a great photo of you and your Dad! I don't think either of you could have looked any happier.
